My Work: Story Selling

I’m a story seller. I craft compelling messaging to share inspirational stories, promote experts through the media, position products, and overall enhance the lives of people…and even animals.

My work:

Public Relations: I only work with authors and promote books through Smith Publicity. Contact me and I’ll put you in touch with Smith’s amazing team to learn more.

In addition to working full-time at Smith Publicity, I also have my own passion project– Zine and Heard PR– where I only work with a very select client roster for projects I am super passionate about. For example, mompreneurs launching a small business I love and who can’t afford to hire a PR firm, animal rescue groups or animal advocates, and musicians I support.

TV Development: I work with Dola Media to develop TV shows and documentaries that they then pitch to networks. We’re also open to discussing music licensing. Have an idea? Tell me about it!

Lifestyle writing/book: I’m a self-published author and have a background in journalism. I love to interview people and share their stories. You’ll see a lot of that on this blog.

(I am also available to the media for expert commentary on young divorce and the trash the dress movement).

Why you’ll want to work with me:

I know how to get the media’s attention—and keep it. A storyteller at heart, I specialize in creating and promoting compelling angles and as a publicist have gained national coverage for my clients including Good Morning AmericaThe Today Show, New York Post, Life & Style, In Touch, Forbes, The New York Times, MSNBC, Forbes, Real Simple, Wall Street Journal, MTV, SheKnows, Reader’s Digest and Southern Living. Relationships are the foundation of my work and I credit much of my success to maintaining connections with the media and becoming united with my clients.

During my diverse career, I have led public relations campaigns for clients in the lifestyle, women’s interest, healthcare, entertainment, non-profit, green energy, life sciences and consumer product sectors. I’ve been on both sides of the media and as a lifestyle writer has been published in outlets including Huffington Post. My experience also includes developing social media influencer campaigns. Prior to becoming a lifestyle book publicist in 2018, I worked at an advertising agency, leading public relations and influencer campaigns for consumer food and beverage brands, and more.

I got my start in the business by self-publishing a music ‘zine (ran it for 10 years) and doing PR for indie bands while in college. My ‘zine transitioned into a blog before blogging was a thing (#originalblogger), then a website and eventually an Internet TV show, for which I produced/ hosted episodes with international superstars including 30 Seconds to Mars. You can still view the show on YouTube. In addition to that side-hustle, I was employed by the The Independent Music Awards, where I handled PR and coordinated booking celebrity judges like Backstreet Boy Brian Litrell and Rick Springfield.

As a music publicist, I have worked with hit-making indie/ former label bands including Cash Cash, Val Emmich, the Matches, Sohodolls, Scott & Aimee (featuring Scott Russo of Unwritten Law and Aimee Allen), the Parlor Mob, Jeremiah Freed and more.

As a music editor/producer, I have interviewed many of my favorite bands, including Butch Walker, 30 Seconds to Mars, Hanson, 311, and Silverchair.

As an Internet TV producer with my show, I also edited and produced segments for a documentary series called Going Vegan, which inspired musicians to go vegan for one month (my co-producer Jordana Reim gets credit for this idea). Bringing viewers “What’s Hot & What’s Important,” was our mission. One of my favorite adventures was meeting tiger trainers and discussing how tigers are endangered. I was inches away from the most beautiful creatures in the world!

My self-published book, Trash the Dress: Stories of Celebrating Divorce in your 20s, has been featured on International Business Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, Maclean’s, Glamour, Cosmo Middle East, The Globe and Mail and Dr. Oz’s YouBeauty.com.

I’ve always freelanced in the PR world, taking on clients with causes I’m passionate about and in spring of 2018, I put a name to my efforts and formed Zine and Heard PR. I’m also excited to announce that I’ve teamed up with Dola Media to identify talent for reality TV programming and music licensing.
