About Me

I’m Joelle- an author, book publicist, and lifestyle writer with a passion for empowering girls of all ages and life stages.

I began writing stories on a typewriter as a child and even cut out models from magazine ads and glued them to the pages and pretended they were my characters. I always wanted to write a book, but didn’t have my “big idea” until my life fell apart when I was 28 years old.

That’s when I got divorced to my first husband (spoiler: I’m remarried!) and had the inspiration to interview 70 young divorced women around the world and share stories of how they bounced back from divorce at a young age and turned that into a positive life experience. That book, Trash the Dress: Stories of Celebrating Divorce in your 20s, has been featured in Huffington Post, Glamour UK, Yahoo! Health, Cosmo Middle East, SheKnows, International Business Times, The Globe and Mail, and more.

Today, I’m married to Frank (pizza is literally his job) and cherish being mommy to our daughter, Genevieve, and son, Luca. I enjoy working from our little red cottage in New Jersey. Genevieve and Luca always knock on the door of my office asking for hugs and I give in every time. Gracey and Lulu, our family’s two rescued shelter dogs, complete our #speranzasquad.

Since becoming a mom, I have dreamed of publishing a children’s book. I was inspired to write Princess Genevieve: The Hero with Girl Power (coming in 2020) as I planned my daughter’s princess-themed 5th birthday party because every princess needs her own story!

As part of my book launch, I formed an online community called Hero with Girl Power, to empower girls of all ages and life stages. We have a Facebook group, Newsletter, Instagram page and Pinterest account. I hope to connect with you there, too!

A goal-getting creative, I have been self-publishing and producing since college, when I launched my own music ‘zine-turned-website and Internet TV show before it was cool for everyone to have one. I view everything in life as a potential article, photo, or TV segment and am always thinking of ways to inspire others and spread positivity through my work.
