The Trouble with Staying up Late for an At-Home Date

Last night, both kids miraculously fell asleep by 9:30 p.m. My husband and I took advantage of this and were able to catch up on our TV shows. But I knew I was going to pay for it, and of course I did.

By 11 p.m., when I was ready to go to bed, the baby woke up. Of course. He cried for about an hour and I finally got to go to bed– now exhausted– at midnight. He work up again at 5 a.m. Then it took me forever to get back to sleep. My mind was awake having gotten 5 hours of sleep in a row. But I did get a few more sweet dreams in– until he woke up at 7 a.m. again and was inspired to write this blog.

(Yay for WordPress app on my phone for helping me to keep up with my goals while the baby watches The Lion Guard cuddled in bed with me).

When I woke, I asked myself, “Was staying up later than usual worth losing the bour and a half extra of sleep I could have gotten before the baby started waking up?”

Answer: Yes. At least my husband and I got to spend a little time together. And we got to catch up on Modern Family and start watching The Newlweds on Bravo that I recently purchased from Amazon after speaking with and loving Tina Sugandh.

(We also love Splitting Up Together and Married at First Sight but we are already up-to-date).

What shows do you and your hubby watch together?

Lesson learned from this post: Sometimes you have to rough it to keep you marriage a priority along with motherhood. Enjoy it and drink coffee in the morning.
