Book Crush: The People We Meet on Vacation

Beach read alert!  The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry.

This copy has been well-loved by other library readers and I am totally late to the game. Love the tattered and torn cover. I want to know the stories of the people who read the stories I love.

I love the ending of this book but I felt like the build up to the end was more of a slow burn than a fast paced page turner. I appreciate all the back story and history put into the character’s relationship, but the way the book was formatted kept throwing me off. I was really into the current summer, and after almost every chapter, it flashed back to a past summer. For me, I felt the momentum was lost. I would have rather it went in chronological order. For that reason, I dragged a little reading this. Once I got to page 200 or so, I really got into the present day story and actually speed read or skipped past the chapters or previous summers because I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. And then I went back to see what I missed. Towards the end, once it kept in present day story, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s a sweet love story of soul mates and their journey to realizing it.
